CARMINE IACCARINO FILES FOR WOODFORD COUNTY ATTORNEY

Pledges fair and impartial enforcement of the law

For the People of Woodford County

Versailles, KY (January 8, 2025) - Today, Carmine Iaccarino officially filed and announced his candidacy for Woodford County Attorney, launching a campaign that will focus on the fair, faithful, and even-handed enforcement of the law.

Dedicated to both public service and upholding the rule of law, Carmine is an attorney with broad experience advising and representing individuals, public institutions, local governments, and state agencies. The son of an Italian immigrant, he was raised with a deep respect for the values that make America the land of opportunity—where anyone, regardless of background, can achieve success through hard work and determination. An adopted son of the Commonwealth, he is proud to call Woodford County his home— a community for which he cares deeply and the place he and his wife have chosen to raise their family.

Carmine has a broad legal practice centered on complex constitutional law, administrative law, open-records compliance, and the day-to-day legal issues that affect communities across the Commonwealth, and has handled cases involving the Commonwealth’s signature sport of thoroughbred racing. He previously served as General Counsel to Kentucky’s Public Protection Cabinet overseeing legal matters related to alcohol beverage control, professional licensing, insurance, financial institutions, housing, buildings, construction, charitable gaming, and horse racing. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior attorney in the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office, where he worked closely with local officials across the state to deliver common-sense solutions to complex legal challenges. He now seeks to bring that experience home by serving Woodford County as County Attorney.

“County Attorney should not be viewed as a political office—it is a legal one,” Carmine said. “The job demands sound judgment, independence, and a steady commitment to the law. I have provided those qualities to clients and local officials throughout my career, including during my time in the Attorney General’s Office as well as in private practice. My goal is straightforward: to serve Woodford County with professionalism, integrity, and respect for both the law and the people it serves.”

The County Attorney performs multiple roles that are vital to local government. The office prosecutes misdemeanor crimes, works closely with law enforcement, advises the fiscal court and county officials, represents the county in litigation, and ensures that local government operates transparently and within the bounds of state law. Carmine pledged his campaign will focus on competence, accountability, and collaboration with county officials to help Woodford County continue to thrive.

“I am running to be the County’s lawyer—not a politician with an agenda,” Carmine added. “Woodford County deserves a County Attorney who is prepared, principled, and committed to getting the law right. I am ready to meet that responsibility, and I respectfully ask for your vote and the opportunity to earn your confidence.”
